In May 2024 the unit was performing a lift with the boom extended when it started to tilt.
The left-hand-side outriggers collapsed, causing the boom to come to rest on the roof of a building, which prevented the crane from toppling onto its side. When the front left-hand outrigger collapsed, it struck the front wheel, forcing it back into the steering rack and puncturing the sump. (A genuine replacement sump was subsequently fitted, and the engine was refilled with the correct capacity of oil). When the unit started to tilt, the unit's lockout function was activated, which turned the engine off.
Damages include, but are not necessarily limited to: distorted boom and sleeve of boom was cut in places to allow retraction, nearside outriggers destroyed, suspension units at the front of the machine have both collapsed and suffered distortion, chassis distortion - suffered due to the incident as well as during the process of recovery.
The following components were removed at the time for testing, items that were removed are:
4 x counterbalance control valves, pressure sensors and control blocks one from each outrigger.
1 x manual outrigger control valve set. (left side of vehicle.)
1 x manual outrigger control valve set. (right hand side of vehicle).
4 x contact sensors, one for each outrigger.
Please note that these components have been removed from the vehicle for over a year, and the hydraulic lines have been left open. These items are in a box that weighs approx. 40kgs and will be made available for collection, see the last set of photos for a visual on the contents.
The unit was recently jump-started and started for the first time, see video. The truck height is low and will not rise as the electronics believe the outriggers are still out. See the truck bed for the damaged outriggers.
Load out:
The unit can be jump-started and can be driven onto a 'low' low loader (ride height is low). Due to the damage to the steering rack, it can only be driven in a straight line (the steering wheel should not be moved as movement may puncture the sump). If required, the location can assist with loading (charge to be agreed upon by the buyer and the location).
