    Description
Standort: Gassmann GmbH in Bovenden (PLZ 37120), Alte Bundesstraße 48, Aufbau: Spurweite 32mm, Spur 0, Nenngröße 1:45, ca. 2x 100m Gleislänge, aus den 1920 Jahren Märklin & Cie was originally a German toy company founded in 1859 and based in Göppingen, Baden Wurttemberg. Although it was originally famous for the manufacture of very high-quality dollhouses, the company has become renowned in the collector world for their model railways. Märklin released its first wind-up train that ran on expandable tracks in 1891. They became well known for the creation of several model railway gauges and scales, defining gauge 1-5 as the standard for toy trains, presenting them for the first time at the Leipzig Toy Fair in 1891. This particular Märklin train set is thought to be from the 1920s. The set was a present to Baron J.O. Raben-Levetzau for his 16th birthday, and it was originally housed in one of the first-floor rooms in the castle. There are seven engines and 58 carriages altogether. The carriages include petrol tankers, cranes, timber carriages, and passenger carriages. There is also approximately 60 meters of track that is affixed to wooden boxes.
